Dr. Kapur Advocates for Private Practices

Dr. Kapur recently testified in front of the Public Health Committee, regarding CT House Bill 6873, An Act Strengthening the Review of Health Care Entity Transactions.

Dr. Kapur opposes bill 6873 which limits the ability of practices to access capital and business support through partnership with private equity. He opposes the bill because it threatens the ability of practices, like ECHO, and their ability to provide the highest level of care possible.

He discusses how ECHO’s affiliation with OneOncology for over 6 years has had a tremendous positive impact in our ability to provide the highest quality, cost effective care, in a community setting.  This relationship, built on trust and expertise, has resulted in numerous benefits including:

  • Lifesaving curative therapies
  • Access to therapies, such as certain chemotherapy agents, that are in scarce supply
  • State of the art infusion center
  • Just in time clinical trials that can be opened in matter of weeks
  • A robust research portfolio
  • Technology that allows us to match clinical trials with patients
  • The ability to grow by bringing in new physicians

Dr. Kapur went on to highlights some of the most recent accomplishments of ECHO including:

  • Serving as the only private practice in Connecticut that is infusing bispecific antibodies in a community setting.
  • Enrolling the first patient in the world in a vaccine trial for lung cancer.
  • Supporting patients in all areas, including managing the financial toxicity, that comes with cancer.

Dr. Kapur is proud of how ECHO has managed to keep cancer care cutting edge, convenient, and cost-effective. Partnering with OneOncology has allowed ECHO to grow and thrive.
