Congratulations to Dr. Dennis Slater & Dr. Susan Johnson on Precision Medicine Certification

Cancer treatments have advanced dramatically over the years, especially in the realm of precision medicine and genetic research. Precision medicine looks at the genetics, environment, and lifestyle of a person to select treatment that could work best for them. Precision medicine is leading a new era in healthcare through revolutionizing the way cancer is treated based on a person’s genetics.

Congratulations to Dr. Dennis Slater and Dr. Susan Johnson who recently received their certification in Precision Medicine from the University of Florida. They spent over a year undergoing rigorous didactic training focused on key areas including precision-medicine era diagnostics, treatment selection, genetic counseling, public health interventions, biomedical research, and data science and ethical issues. Areas of study included:

·      genomic analysis and genetic counseling 

·      cancer biomarkers

·      understanding of gene-environment interactions

·      pharmacogenomics 

·      multi-omics data integration
