Join Us for the April CPAN Advocacy Chat: Addressing Equity in the Health Care System
Discrimination affects every part of a person’s life, whether they realize it or not. Research has shown that any form of discrimination, whether it be race, sex, gender, or economic, leads to a lower quality of life for patients. Creating an equitable system encourages patients to take an active role in their care.
On April 13 at 12 p.m. ET, Rose Gerber will talk to Alan Balch, PhD, about the effects of discrimination in the health care system and what we can do to increase equity and decrease discrimination. Dr. Balch is the CEO of the Patient Advocate Foundation (PAF) and the National Patient Advocate Foundation (NPAF), two organizations that are dedicated to strengthening patient voices in health care. He will discuss the current work that his two organizations are undertaking to increase health equity, including the Trust and Equity Project, along with steps that you can take to make the health care systems in your area a more welcoming place.
This event will be part of our virtual CPAN Advocacy Chats series – short, monthly educational webinars on key cancer issues and the policies that impact them. Each month will feature a new topic and special guests joining us. Patients, survivors, caregivers, and other cancer care advocates are all invited to join us for these free, interactive, virtual events!
