Diarrhea & Nausea Management

Consider avoiding these foods while experiencing diarrhea:

  • High-fiber foods such as oatmeal and whole-wheat bread
  • Milk and milk products unless they are low lactose or lactose-free
  • Greasy, fatty, or fried foods
  • Raw vegetables and fruit
  • Legumes, broccoli, celery, and corn
  • Nuts and beans
  • High-sugar drinks such as juice and regular soda
  • Very hot or very cold drinks
  • Food or drinks with caffeine, like regular coffee, tea, some soda, and chocolate
  • Alcohol

Nausea Management

At Home Nausea Medications:

Compazine 10mg (prochlorperazine)

  • Directions: Take 1 tablet every 4-6 hours as needed for mild nausea

Zofran 8mg (ondansetron)

  • Directions: Take 1 tablet every 8-12 hours as needed for moderate nausea not relieved by Compazine

Prilosec 40mg (MD Preference)

  • Directions: Take one tablet daily
