Nicole McKenzie, APRN

Nicole McKenzie began her medical journey as an Army Medic in 1997. She worked as an RN in the emergency department for five years before transferring to outpatient oncology where she spent another four years as an RN. After completing her Family Nurse Practitioner program she continued to work in outpatient oncology and is nationally certified as an Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner. 

After two years with ECHO, she transitioned to inpatient care where she provides direct patient care in coordination with the hospital inpatient team, palliative care and ECHO oncologists.   

Nicole also plays a role shaping the future of medicine and educating other care providers. She is developing an online hematology course for Advanced Practitioner Society for Hematology and Oncology to educate nurse practitioners and PAs on the topic of malignant hematology. She also served as a peer reviewer for one of their modules.

At home, she enjoys spending time with her husband, two daughters, and two dogs. The whole family became Taekwondo black belts together, they enjoy traveling and many outdoor activities such as skiing, snowshoeing, kayaking, hiking, and camping.
