The Living Tree
“He who plants a tree, plants hope.”
– Lucy Larcom
What is the Living Tree?
In 2006, the ECHO Cancer Foundation established The Living Tree. Inspired by the generous donations of several families and individuals, the Tree will act as a tangible memorial or honorarium for those who have chosen to donate to the Foundation.
Where is the Tree located?
The Living Tree is prominently displayed in the hallway of Eastern Connecticut Hematology and Oncology and the ECHO Cancer Foundation.
What does it symbolize?
Throughout history, trees have been powerful symbols; a visual representation of strength, endurance, beauty and graciousness. The Tree is handsomely crafted with a sculptured cast-bronze trunk and solid North American Oak leaves.
Each leaf has a brass plate that is engraved with the name of the honoree, assuring they will be remembered in perpetuity. The Tree will continue to grow and flourish with every name that adorns its branches.
