Nurse Navigator

Essential duties and responsibilities

 The Nurse Navigator serves as an advocate and educator for the patients of the practice as well as their families and caregivers. This role works cohesively with the providers, oncology nurses and other oncology service providers to coordinate treatment and to ensure that patients receive quality and comprehensive services through a continuum of care.

  • Serve as a consistent contact for patients, family and caregivers throughout the process of diagnosis and treatment, providing pre-procedure teaching and post-procedure follow-up calls
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Practice Administrator, Social Worker and Palliative Care Team regarding patients who may need social service, pharmacy or foundation support
  • Collaborate with practice providers and external service providers regarding treatment plans and follow up care
  • Support the infusion department as needed as a fill-in
  • Collaborate with the ECHO Cancer Foundation for patient support services. Provide thoughtful ideas in how the foundation can best support patients and meet the needs of their families and caregivers.
  • Model quality patient/customer service always
  • Answer triage calls and respond to patient needs timely
  • Educate patients regarding their chemotherapy regimens and treatment
  • Demonstrate a willingness to serve patients, maintain an awareness of patient needs and utilizing initiative to respond to those needs and maintain confidentiality of all patient information
  • Serve as a resource and consultant for the Service Line as well as the community, developing a presence in the professional and general public.
  • Participate in department meetings such as daily pre-shifts or monthly department meetings
  • Other duties as assigned by the role’s immediate supervisors


  •  RN license through the state of CT
  • Previous experience in Oncology and working with an oncology EMR preferred
  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing required
  • OCN certificate preferred but not required

Social Worker

We are currently looking for a full-time Social Worker to work specifically with our other dedicated professionals on our Palliative Care Team. Primary responsibility will be to provide patients, their families, and their caregivers with psychosocial needs and community resources.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with the care team to evaluate patient’s current and future social and mental health needs
  • Advocate and provide support for patients to reduce crisis
  • Utilize knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis and treatment for guidance and support
  • Educate patients about their treatment plan and the available resources and support systems
  • Establish and nurture external relationships with providers that can support patients, such as .lawyers, mental health services, and community organizations
  • Attend networking, training, and educational events to help expand knowledge and networks of resources
  • Other duties as assigned


Masters Degree in Social Work, Counseling or Marriage and Family Therapy required. License preferred but not required. At least one year of experience working in a hospital or healthcare setting. Candidates should have a solid foundation of community resources available in the eastern CT region. Oncology experience is not required.

Medical Laboratory Technologist

Responsible for processing laboratory specimens within our in-house lab. Other responsibilities include:

  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria. Send out specimens if needed.
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
  • Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
  • Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solving.
  • Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls
  • Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
  • Assist with processing of specimens when needed
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
  • Other duties as assigned


Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology or a related science and a minimum 1 year of clinical laboratory testing experience is required for Technologist level.

Infusion Nurse

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Clearly and accurately documents pertinent information in the patient’s medical record. Consistently demonstrates effective documentation practices and develops strategies to ensure complete documentation of patient care
  • Completes timely and ongoing patient assessments and responses to treatments serving as a key participant on the treatment team
  • Works closely with APRNs and Doctors to ensure appropriate and prescribed treatment plans are followed
  • Oversee triage responsibilities when scheduled
  • Deliver teaches to patients on a variety of different subject matters and medication procedures
  • Administer chemotherapy administration as well as immunotherapy, intravenous gamma globulin, iron infusions and growth factor support

Ideal Candidates Have the Following:

  • Current RN license through the state of CT
  • Previous experience in Oncology and working with an oncology EMR preferred
  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing required
  • Ability to stand for the duration of shift and move quickly throughout the infusion center

Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Escort patients into exam rooms to prep for the Physician visit
  • Pace visits and patient rooming accordingly. Communicate any delays in appointments to patients at time of rooming
  • Complete pre-visit requirements including reconciliation of medical lists, collecting vitals and lab collection. Update patient records in the EMR in time for physician visit
  • Draw blood from patients and deliver the specimen to in house lab
  • Work collaboratively with the Medical Receptionist team to ensure Physician schedule is utilized appropriately
  • Monitor Physician inbox in EMR for messages and respond appropriately according to Physician workflow
  • Participate in department meetings and in-service training as required
  • Cover the front desk as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

To apply, the candidate must possess:

  • Medical Assistant Certification preferred but not required
  • High School diploma required
  • At least two years of experience working in a medical office with a similar volume.
  • Previous experience working with an Electronic Medical Record system required.
