Lisa Abate, Medical Receptionist

Tell us about your background

I have worked as a medical assistant, pharmacy technician, medical transcriptionist, and worked for several years in the finance dept of a large corporation before coming to ECHO. I work with Dr. Kapur and enjoy the fast pace of the office.

What you enjoy most about your role at ECHO

I am proud to be part of the ECHO team and work with people who are so devoted to their patients.

Why you chose hematology/oncology

I was tired of pushing paper around for a “corporate machine” and wanted something more meaningful and rewarding to do. I found that at ECHO.

What you do to make a positive difference in the lives of our patients

The thing I enjoy most about working at ECHO is watching the patients ring the bell when they complete their final chemo treatment. It gives me the chills every time!

What you do outside of work

I design jewelry and am a mixed media artist. I have shown my work in several area galleries and taught art classes prior to the pandemic. I look forward to attending in-person art retreats with my daughter (sometime in the future).
