Championing High Quality, Affordable Health Care

On June 23, Dr. Kapur was a panelist at the Connecticut Healthcare Strategy Information Hearing. The hearing was held to address healthcare affordability.
Some of the topics Dr. Kapur touched on include:
- Factors that are driving up the cost of care and access to care
- Site of service where patients receive care
- Certificate of need which requires healthcare providers to obtain permission before making significant changes to their facilities or services
- How practices are being incentivized toward consolidation
- The decimation of independent/ private practices which has resulted in patients having to move care to higher cost centers
- Case studies from Minnesota and North Carolina healthcare systems
We are grateful that Dr. Kapur remains a vocal and committed champion to ensure that patients throughout Connecticut have access to the best care that is affordable, convenient, and personalized.
Below is a thank you note from Lisa Sementilli who is the Lead Planning Analyst with the Connecticut Office of Health Strategy
- “Thank you for agreeing to speak at the Healthcare Benchmark hearing on Monday. Your remarks added a great deal of insight into the impact of healthcare costs drivers on employers, healthcare providers, and patients. Our hope is that other employers will be emboldened by your leadership and that policymakers will see the impact on business, workers and patients in a different light as a result. As healthcare financing at the federal and state level continues to change, it is more important than ever to hear the voices of responsible employer-providers like Eastern CT Hematology and Oncology. We value your partnership, and you will hear from the Office of Health Strategy more formally to express our gratitude.”
