Growth Factor Names

There are many growth factors on the market. Some common names include Neulasta, OnPro, Udenyca, Nivestym, Neupogen, to name a few.

Purpose

To increase your white blood cell count to help prevent infections. Usually give 24-72 hours after chemotherapy.

Side Effects

Bone pain and muscle aches. Severe to mild.

Management

Discuss side effects with your doctor. Take Motrin, Aleve, or Tylenol if directed.

Take over the counter Claritin the morning of your shot, and once per day for the next 3-4 days.
