Join us for our December online advocacy event
Join us for our next online event: December 9th at 12:00pm. This month we will be discussing the special relationship between oncology patients and physicians.
Advances in medicine, technology, and knowledge have increased the chances that patients with cancer will survive their disease. Some patients will not survive a cancer diagnosis, however, which means that physicians must prepare patients for the possibility of end of life care and planning.
On December 9, Kashyap Patel, MD, vice president of COA and CEO of Carolina Blood & Cancer Care Associates, will join COA Director of Patient Advocacy and Education Rose Gerber to discuss his new book, Between Life and Death: From Despair to Hope, a chronicle of real patients who have faced the end of life with understanding and acceptance. Dr. Patel will also describe his experience supporting patients with the transition to palliative care, offer strategies for dealing with this difficult issue, and more.
This event is part of our virtual CPAN Advocacy Chats series – short, monthly educational webinars on key cancer issues and the policies that impact them. Each month will feature a new topic and special guests joining us. Patients, survivors, caregivers, and other cancer care advocates are all invited to these free, interactive, virtual events!
